Early Detection with Dental Check-Ups and Screenings
Our dental exams and screenings are special – so special in fact, that they take some new patients by surprise! Our customized exams and screenings are designed to ensure that your dental issues are found long before they become critical so you stay healthier.
As with all of our dental care, we tailor our dental check-ups and screenings to meet your particular needs and desires and to fit the level of care you want – from short term, cursory exams and screenings for very obvious, more advanced problems, to comprehensive exams that fully evaluate the health of your teeth and gums, including the dynamic relationship of the jaw to the health of your dental system.
When dental problems are caught early, they are easier to treat and have much less impact on your systemic health. We start new patients with a comprehensive dental exam and screenings which may include:
- Complete Health History
- Oral Cancer Screenings
- Periodontal Screenings
- TMJ Assessment
- Intra-oral Camera Exam
- Sleep Disorders
- Smile Evaluation
- Digital X-rays
These screenings are designed to educate our patients. There is a computer monitor at every chair so that you can fully participate in every aspect of the screening process. We show you your current condition, your progress and your results. We also take time to show you what you can do to continue the treatment and care of your smile at home.
This examination process allows us to jointly formulate a long-term plan for your preferred dental future.
The Technology of Dental Detection
Although technology supports and expands our dental exams and care, we also know that communication is our most important asset. That’s why we strive to maintain a healthy balance between tried and true relationship building and the latest and greatest in technology.
Our digital x-rays let us see your mouth in greater detail than traditional x-rays while exposing you to less radiation and allowing us to keep absolutely up-to-date computerized dental records.
Our intra-oral cameras make a great educational tool for our patients in allowing both the doctor and the patient to see – magnified and in vivid color – exactly what is going on in their mouth during a check-up.
Because approximately 85 percent of the population has some form of periodontal disease, we take testing for this condition very seriously. Our bacterial and genetic testing lets us assess your risk, establish a baseline for anyone who may be at increased risk for periodontal infections and personalize your treatment options.
We are committed to offering our patients the best technology available to keep their mouth and body healthy.
