Caring for Austin By Giving Back to the Community
We love our patients and our community! Many of our team members, including Dr. Worob, grew up right here in Austin. It is home to both our practice and our hearts. Just like you, we live and work here and we want to take part in its activities and help support its needs. Our entire team is dedicated to reaching out, giving back and staying involved. We also like to get our family of patients participating – joining in and taking part in important community events.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s
During 2019 and 2020, our team participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Austin to support the Alzheimer’s Association. This event helps raise money to fund important research for testing, treatment, and eventually a cure for Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer
12 Oaks Dental was proud to be a sponsor again for the Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer. This is a very personal effort to our office. We first participated in 2012 in honor of Virginia, the mother of one of our dental assistants. Virginia fought hard but became a victim to ovarian cancer in October 2012.
Over 14,000 women will die from ovarian cancer annually. It ranks 5th in cancer deaths among women. Symptoms are as subtle and vague as fatique, getting full quickly and stomach pain.
Each year we help to raise awareness with our patients and in the community. Our office was able to raise close to $2,000 in support of this cause, we even had patients join us at the event. We were happy to present our patient raffle drawing winner her iPic movie passes!
Annual Fan Drive
Our Annual Fan Drive is one of the easiest ways our patients and team get involved and help low income families and individuals stay cooler during the hottest Texas months. For two months, we collect new fans and/or donations for the Fan Drive. Everyone who contributes the monetary value of a new fan has his or her name entered in a drawing – the winner receives a nice dinner for two at one of Austin’s finest restaurants. For more information on the Fan Drive, visit www.familyeldercare.orglink.
Ronald McDonald House
We also volunteer at the local Ronald McDonald House, a wonderful place that provides families of sick children a place to sleep, eat and relax while their children are being treated at Dell Children’s Hospital. Our team goes to the Ronald McDonald House in Austin every year to prepare a meal and visit with these families! For more information about this wonderful organization, visit www.rmhc-austin.org.
It’s My Park Day
Another volunteering favorite is My Park Day – an annual citywide volunteer workday in Austin Parks. It is a great opportunity for our team and our patients to help make a lasting impact on a park we love and make Austin a greener and more beautiful place to live.
